Question Submitted:
Line No. 011 - Will museum staff be available to assist with installation and learn how to install for future ease of accessibility? What floor is installation on? If it is beyond ground/ dock level, is there a freight elevator? How is the installation space accessed? What are dimensions of the doorways/ hallways that would need to be passed through to get to the exhibit space? Will the installation need to happen after business hours? Is there a dumpster to dispose of packing debris after installation or will installer need to take that off post?
Response Received:
Museum staff will be onsite (along with several thousand military personnel if required). Ground floor installation. No freight elevator nor one required. Installation is accessed through double doors of standard width (about eight feet). Installation does not need to occur after business hours - these museums are not that busy and you are on a military base - people will move out of your way. There is a dumpster on site.
Question Submitted:
Line Nos. 008 & 009 - is acrylic vs. tempered glass acceptable? Is painted gray/ stainless/ aluminum type finishes acceptable?
Response Received:
Acrylic is acceptable, but would prefer tempered glass. Painted gray/stainless/aluminum finishes acceptable.
Question Submitted:
Are security screws AND locks both required or are one or the other acceptable? Is there a specific black needed, or will any standard black finish suffice?
Response Received:
Yes, both security screws and locks required. If this is not available, locks are a must. Any black finish will work.
Question Submitted:
Is a loading dock available to allow delivery via 18 wheeler? Will delivery driver require any special ID to enter the base? Does driver have to be a US Citizen?
Response Received:
Closest that an 18-wheeler can get is a parking lot about 100 feet from entrance to building. A smaller truck can back right up to the doors if needed (wide sidewalk all the way to entrance). A liftgate would be required as there is not a dock. Visitor Access information is available at https://home.army.mil/jackson/index.php/about/Garrison/DES/physical-security/access-control (or you can Google it). No special ID. US Citizens only on most bases.
Question Submitted:
No drawings (some of the specs are jibberish and contradictory, which would make it impossible to bid without clarification). The dismountable floor cases items 005 and 006 are too large to be safely built in acrylic.
Response Received:
The museum directors do not commonly create drawings - the museum indicated that Floor Case Items 005 and OO6 can be built in segments of acrylic that join cleanly at the joints - no more than three segments per unit are preferred. If you can specify what you consider to be "gibberish and contradictory" - that may assist them in answering.
