Horses will need shod every 6-8 weeks. Veterinary services are provided by Fort Irwin’s Army Vet team.

Are there safe facilities (cross ties), protected from the sun and inclement weather? Answer 1: we do not use cross ties, horses are tied using single hitch point. We have covered facilities for working on two horses simultaneously and outdoor ties for 4 additional horses at least. Is there enough room (cross ties) for two or more horses to be worked on at the same time? Answer 2: please see answer 1 Are the horses well behaved, any issues being shod? Answer 3: Yes, they are performance horses. No issues being shod. What type of rubber/ plastic shoes are required? Answer 4: none -at this time What does the horse with specialty shoes require? Answer 5: Tank required correction shoes to fix a sloping heel angle. At one point he was in egg bar shoes, then a rocker shoe, is now in aluminum/steel shoes. Specialty shoes not required at this time. Any other requirements such as borium for traction? Answer 6: not at this time.
