Question Submitted:
Is there a particular reason you want Spruce as opposed to Pine or some other softwood type lumber? A little bit rare to see a specific species of wood called out for 2" x 4" and 2" x 6" lumber. Spruce is naturally less resinous compared to pine. It's, therefore, more susceptible to insect attacks. It also has a low decay resistance. Pine, however, has moderate resistance to decay and insect attack.
Response Received:
Yes there is a particular reason. Without getting into specific details, it is more of a requirement for safety reason. Spruce is required.
