No Glass is the requirement.

Question Submitted:
We noticed that the bid requirements where changed. Most notably the original quote was for explosion proof fixtures and now the bid states hazardous location. I was on the TSV-4 vessel with the Chief Engineer Rod Thornton and he specifically wanted the LFXBs. Now I see the spec opens it up for any brand/style fixture and also has an external color finish that excludes Phoenix. Can you confirm if this is the updated bid requirement? I have reached out to the Chief Engineer as well.
Response Received:
UL Ratedfor hazardous Locations

Question Submitted:
May I know how would it need to be mounted?
Response Received:
Horizontal Top Mounting

Question Submitted:
Per the attached RFQ, do you want Explosion Proof fixtures? “Eex” rated Class 1 Division 1 groups C&D OR Hazardous location fixtures per the specification? Class 1 Division 2 Groups A, B, C & D Todd Henkes
Response Received:
UL Rated for Hazardous locations

Question Submitted:
You should also know the spec does not include “ABS” certs which are required for all US flagged vessels. There are a limited amount of US based manufacturers that provide this sort of fixtures.
Response Received:
ABS certification is required.

Question Submitted:
I also want to point out that the bid title states explosion proof fixtures but the bid specs state hazardous location. That is a level of ambiguity that needs to be clarified. You don’t want to put a hazardous rated fixture in a explosion type environment.
Response Received:
Shipboard use is a Hazardous atmosphere.

Due to an insufficient justification for Brand Name only, this procurement was put up for solicitation again. The bid is open to LFXBs or similiar according to the technical specifications.
